Semi-Structured Interviews
Interested in Sharing Your Stories?
Interviews are a vital part of this study exploring how Afro-Caribbean students experience and navigate antiblackness, identity, and belonging in U.S. higher education.
Your participation helps illuminate how students across the diaspora make meaning of their educational journeys — not only the challenges, but also the acts of care, resistance, and community that sustain them.
What to Expect. Each interview is a one-on-one, confidential conversation lasting about 60–90 minutes. Interviews are semi-structured and take place in two phases, guided by open-ended questions about your:
Background and family or migration story
College experience and sense of belonging
Encounters with support, bias, or antiblackness
Reflections on identity, culture, and resistance
You are welcome to share as much or as little as you’d like. You may pause, skip questions, or withdraw at any time. You are the expert on your own experience, and your voice matters deeply.
Who Can Participate. Participants must:
Identify as Afro-Caribbean (including U.S.-born, foreign-born, first-generation, or multiracial)
Interview Format Options:
Zoom (video or audio only)
In-person (if geographically feasible)
Phone (by request)
